This virgin Redwood has a door into it's hollow trunk, burned out by the fire set to clear the slash after Purisima Creek was clear cut. A few old growth trees were spared, this one because it's shape made it less desirable for lumber. It lives with a few others in Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. Second growth trees have returned to the forest.
